Tomorrow
With very little water, I moved early with the intention of going to the nearest spring along the path. I was approximately half a mile of the PCT itself, but there was not much water anywhere along my morning walk.
Middle Point Monument
I passed the midpoint monument that indicated that Mexico and Canada were the same distance. With the additional distance that I covered later, now it will be shorter to continue towards Canada than it would be to return.
While looking at the names of the hikers who had signed the registration of paths in the midpoint mark. Lillie and Shoelace arrived. I had seen their names before and knew they were from Baltimore, where I grew up. Talking to them, it turns out that they are from the same side of Baltimore that I am.
If a tree falls …
While walking through a burning zone, he heard a crack in the distance, turned and saw a tree falling to a couple of hundreds of meters away. So, while these burned trees generally remain vertical for quite some time (the fires here were several years ago), they finally go down.
Passing to Chester
I didn’t need anything in Chester’s city, and it was late on the day, so I continued towards Lassen. But there were not many established camps. So I camped to the side of a really dusty registration path.
