Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ran on Friday in Ligue 1 beyond Angers in Ligue 1 when the second half of Fabian Ruiz insured a home victory for the Treble winners of last season, who worked through a frustrating night with a missed Penalty from Ousmane Dembele.
Manager Luis Enrique had warned that it would cost a few games before his side to find his rhythm, with little preparation for the season after reaching the club World Cup final in July, and now the coach has been well proven.
PSG was dominant and completely under control during the game, but it struggled to really threaten Angers’ goal, especially in the early stages.
Halfway through the opening half, the referee was injured and gave an animated Enrique a chance to speak with his players.
The replacement officer soon stood in the heart of the action and brought a fine for Marius Courcoul’s fault on Joao Neves.
However, PSG rejects the perfect opportunity to unlock the game, with Dembele, who scored 35 goals last season in all competitions and sent his mockery over the bar, in the first real attempt by the home team’s home team.
The only other decent chance on the side before the break came when Doue Doue curled a shot from outside the area, which drove closely past the distant pole.
The goal finally came five minutes after the interval. Doue’s attempt at a pass in the box was cut out by Angers -Midfielder Haris Belkebla, but the ball was friendly to Ruiz, who drilled his shot low in the far corner of the net.
PSG, who won his first Champions League in spectacular style at the end of May, showed little of his complicated pass and movement of the ball and could not find any other goal.
Ruiz turned out to be the most dangerous attacking option, whereby the midfielder led a cross of Achraf Hakimi barely and led the upright shot from outside the area.
PSG did not risk much and after opening their league campaign with a 1-0 win at Nantes on Sunday, a new scary victory and another three points will be more than enough to satisfy Enrique in this phase of the season.
