Durand Cup 2025: Diamond Harbor Routs BSF; Indian Navy wins the first game since 2021


Diamond Harbor FC continued his winning run in the Durand Cup with a commander 8-1 victory over BSF Football Club in a group B Clash in the Kishore Bharati Krirangan (KBK) in Kolkata.

Brazilian attacker Clayton Silva played with four goals (2 ‘, 35’, 71 ‘, 90+3’) while the Slovenian attacker Luka Majcen yielded a brace (7 ‘, 39’). Paul (53 ‘) and Jobby Justin (67’) added to the count. The only goal of BSF FC came from Kishori in the 90th minute.

The I-League 2 champion only needed two minutes to make his intentions clear, while Clayton Silva opened the score with a composed right foot finish from a Jobby Justin Cross. Luka Majcen doubled the lead five minutes later and hit in after a scramble by Clayton in the box.

In the 35th minute, Silva struck again with a volley of Girik’s Cross, after Paul and Jobby were combined together to create the chance and only four minutes later Majcen made the score on 4-0 after receiving a Lofted Pass from the Brazilian.

The leading side continued where it had gone in the second half when Paul added the fifth in the 53rd minute and defeated the BSF defense with a low ride. The backline of BSF continued to struggle and Jobby Justin scored the sixth with a powerful header from Samuel’s Hoek in the 67th minute.

Silva completed his hat trick in the 71st minute and benefited from a failed approval from a different angle. Although BSF withdrew one in the 90th minute through Kishori, after a neat assist from Harmandep, it was just a comfort. The Brazilian closed a great night with his fourth goal in injury time and flowed into a shot from outside the box to bring the score to 8-1.

With this emphatic victory, Diamond Harbor FC moved to the top of group B with six points.

Earlier in the day, the Indian Navy Football Team (Inft) achieved a crucial 2-1 victory over I-League-Kant Real Kashmir FC (RKFC) in a well-controversial group F-encounter in the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in Imphal to be the first victory in the competition since 2021.

Goals of Vijay Marandi (6 ‘) and Sreyas VG (70’) provided full points for the sailors, while the 64th minute strike by Franck William Sessegnon turned out to be a comfort for the snow leopards.
