In anticipation of the Kolkata Derby against Mohun Bagan Super Giant, said Oscar Bruzon, head coach of Oost -Bengalen, that new signing Jay Gupta will not be available for the quarter -final Durand Cup 2025 competition.
Defender Jay joined the Kolkata side for a two-year deal, with the option to extend it by another year, from FC Goa.
Bruzon also said that Forward PV Vishnu is probably part of the MatchDay team after the Kerala player gradually closer to achieving match -fitness after repairing an injury.

«So with regard to the privacy of our practices, if you see two days ago, all the details are leaked. I cannot make the details public, but I can tell you that the registration in Durand Cup requires 48 hours before the competition, so I can confirm that Jay will probably not be there tomorrow,» said the coach, also leaked about the falls of details.
«Vishnu is not completely fit because he recovers from a single injury. Tomorrow he may sit on the couch and he can play for a few minutes. Apart from that, all other players are available to us,» Bruzon added.
Palestine Midfielder Mohammed Rashid will also be not available for the competition. He flew back home after his father died.
The Sunday game will be the first Kolkata Derby in the Durand Cup, because both parties were the last to meet in 2023 during the group phase and in the final.
