Eastern Bengal retains 14 players, including Ugandan Resty Nanziri, prior to AFC Women’s Champions League campaign

The women’s team of East Bengal announced the contract extensions of his most important players for the 2025-26 season. Apart from the 14 players, six players-nangbam Sweety Devi, Ashalata Devi, Sushmita Lepcha, Buli Sarkar, Astam Oraon and Naorem Priyangka Devi-Vorig season were signed on two-year contracts.

Under head coach Anthony Andrews, the side achieved the domestic competition double in the 2024-25-the Indian Women’s League (IWL) in April followed by the Calcutta Women’s Football League (also known as the ‘Kanyashree Cup’) in May. Based on winning their first IWL title, East Bengal will represent India in the preliminary phase of the AFC Women’s Champions League at the end of August, where it was placed in Group A next to Hong’s Kitchee SC and Phnom Penh Crown FC.
