Eastern Bengal vs Mohun Bagan: Ahadad picks up injury in Kolkata Derby, replaced by Diamantakos


Eastern Bengal suffered an early injury, in the Kolkata Derby against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the quarterfinals of the Durand Cup 2025, when his striker, Hamid Ahadad, sustained an injury.

Ahadad, who scored on his debut to win the match against Namdhari in the group stage, has two goals in as many performances for the red and gold brigade.

In the quarterfinals, which was played in the Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday, he felt discomfort in his left hamstring and was replaced early in the first half.

The primary striker of the club last season, Dimitrios Diamantakos, replaced the Moroccan. Diamantakos, who won the Golden Boot in the Indian Super League in the 2023-24 season, scored four goals and once assisted in the competition last season.

The Club, established in Kolkata, must still be announced the degree of injury from Ahadad.

East Bengal suffered last season under injuries, in which Diamantakos and Madih Talal miss part of last season. Talal, who had contracted a front cruciate ligament injury (ACL) against Odisha FC, was even excluded for the season and later released by the club.
