The elite and national referees of the All India Football Federation started preparations for the 2025-26 season by performing compulsory fitness tests in three test centers – Gwalior, Kolkata and Chennai.
For men, the fitness test corresponds to the standards set for competition officials who officially (FIFA) at the world level (FIFA). It includes six timed sprints over 40 meters within six seconds, and 40 x 75 meters runs in 15 seconds, with a rest of 18 seconds between runs.
In addition, Elite Match -officials undergoing Body fat composition assessments to guarantee compliance with lifestyle management and physical training standards, aimed at promoting professional excellence.

Aiff Chief Refereeing Officer Trevor Kettle said: “The professional game requires matchmakteners to meet strict fitness standards and they are held fully responsible if they do not meet our requirements.
“Moreover, I am maintaining all match officers to maintain an athletic appearance, which requires a cultural shift in lifestyle management, including food, nutrition and strength and conditioning training.
