England squad for pre-World Cup friendlies: Barnes and White called up for matches in Uruguay and Japan

England have confirmed that Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes and Arsenal defender Ben White have been added to the squad for the pre-World Cup friendlies against Uruguay and Japan later this week.

Barnes and White come into the team in place of Arsenal striker Eberechi Eze and Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah, who are both missing due to injury.

Barnes has one England cap, earned in October 2020, while White has four caps to his name. White famously informed former England manager Gareth Southgate that he did not want to be called up for national duty and left the 2022 FIFA World Cup early for personal reasons.
