England defender Millie Bright announced on Monday that she will retire from international football.
Bright won 88 caps for England after her debut in 2016 and played a key role in the 2022 European Women’s Championship win.
The following year she also led England to defeat in the World Cup final against Spain.
The 32-year-old revealed her decision to retire from the international stage in her podcast ‘Daly Brightness’, which she co-hosts with former England teammate Rachel Daly.

“The reality of the last 10 years of wearing the Three Lions has exceeded even my wildest dreams,” the Chelsea defender said.
«It has been extremely special for me and I wish it could last forever. However, in football, all good things come to an end and with that I have decided to retire from international football.»
Bright pulled out of England’s successful European Championship title defense in July because she was unable to «give 100 percent mentally or physically».
The Chelsea captain underwent knee surgery and began pre-season coaching sessions after saying the decision to withdraw from Sarina Wiegman’s squad was «by far the best decision I have ever made».
