La Liga champion FC Barcelona said on Friday that the Joan Gamper Trophy game was suspended on 10 August due to delays in construction in the renewed Spotify Camp Nou Stadium.
The Barcelona match against Como in the Joan Gamper -Trophy will be the first game to be held in the new Camp Nou.
«This decision is due to the fact that the work required to meet the requirements of the regulation that regulates municipal intervention procedures in construction works, made it impossible to complete the procedures needed to grant the first license,» the club said in a statement.
“In particular, due to the scale of the work carried out, it is not possible to meet all the conditions laid down by the regulations for this license, despite the intention of the club to reopen the redeveloped stadium sector per sector.
«The club maintains closely with the Barcelona city council and the relevant authorities to make progress in the various requirements and will inform its members and fans about new developments with regard to the return date. This delay has no influence on the planned schedule for the repayment of the Espai Barca debt,» concluded the club’s statement.
