Kenan Yildiz scored twice and played a role in an early own goal when Juventus de Wydad Casablanca of Morocco defeated 4-1 in the club World Cup on Sunday and moved to the edge of the last 16.
The Italian sides group G with six points of two games, three ahead of Manchester City, which later stands to the VAEs Al Ain. Juventus is eligible if Al Ain does not win.
Juve struck in the sixth minute when Wydad defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil changed the bent shot of Yildiz into his own net. The Turkish attacker then made it 2-0 with a stunning attack from the edge of the box 10 minutes later.
Wydad gathered briefly and reduced the deficit in the 25th minute when Thembinkosi Lorch Lobbed Michele di Gregorio after a defensive error. The goal shot up the crowd, with torches that stopped the game short because of thick smoke.
Wydad pressed an equalizer but faded after the break. Juventus got control back with the introduction of Teun Koopmeiners and almost scored again via Andrea Cambiasso, whose volley hit the post.
Yildiz insured his brace in the 69th minute and cut in to cleverly finish after a pass from Randal Kolo Muani. Replacement Dusan Vlahovic sealed the victory with a late penalty after he was polluted by Guilherme Ferreira.
Juventus, unbeaten under Igor Tudor for two months, is confronted with Manchester City, while both Ain and Wydad are about to elimination after back-to-back defeats.
