Financial Fair Play rules have ‘killed Aston Villa’ this summer: England Defender Konsa


Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa believes that financial rules have ‘killed’ the Premier League club.

Villa has confronted with restrictions in order to remain in accordance with the financial fair play regulations of UEFA, which means that it must lower a substantial wage account and comply with the Premier League profit and sustainability rules.

Villa also had to sell Talent Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle.

Villa manager Unai Emery and club captain John McGinn both called for reform the rules and Konsa, who hopes to represent England in Villa Park against Andorra on Saturday, said: «It is crazy. I don’t understand it myself, but it doesn’t look so good.

«I know. I know it really killed us this transfer window. We will have to deal with what we have now.»

«We want to stay in the top six, top five and the goal for everyone above that … We want to play Champions League football.»
