For the first time in always …

Today’s alarm still shot too soon. And I slept! It doesn’t matter what day at this point, I just want to sleep.

Pata trains were noisy, and the room was a bit loaded, but the perfect day and I made it work. However, today we are going to separate. I am walking on a mission to meet with my parents in a week, and she is a little hidden since the longest days we have been doing recently.

My friend Daniel in New York is visiting today to walk a little! He has performed a lot of winter backpack in Boston (where we both went to university), but has never tried to make a day for so long, or this path of the Apalaches. He told me to only plan as if it were a normal day … so I’m. I know that what usually goes wrong with people who try to visit hikers is not the first day of walks … it is the second. But he is completely ready to call him a morning mile if his body is not ready. So that’s good, it’s humble that way.

I got up and checked a bit of the farmers market, drinking some coffee and a Bagel sandwich, before meeting with Daniel at the train station. He brought some Rei, Permetrin treats, an insect network for the perfect day and a sawmill tight for me! My quickdraw saucer, although great, has had its interior washer that begins to disintegrate. Rei said they can try to help me get a replacement … but first I would need to buy a new filter and send the previous one. At this point, with two separate doping failures, I decided to give Sawyer a chance. Everyone seems to love yours.

So I prepared with Daniel, and we took the second taxi back at the beginning of the path. I thought I didn’t want his first experience of walking for AT just that we have no problems for a while. I stopped very quickly at DC Malaysia and I asked for some frozen coffee in Malaysia. It is a bit a mistake for me to drink so much coffee at the same time in the morning, since I know I will crash. But it is still good.

Daniel and I had not really left in three years due to several circumstances (mainly my things), so it was good to relieve with him! We were both more or less people, only people before Covid, so it is fun to see that we have both grave out much more now. We talk about classes that we take together, what we have both been doing, etc.

The other pleasant thing was honestly to talk about technical things with him. Big Shocker, as a computer person, I am a great nerd. And while I am on my way to get away from my old job, it is fun to talk about some level of programming at some point. Thinking about those puzzles of which he resolved and felt proud, or things he built, etc.

Although today was a 18 -mile day, it was not terrible. The first climb of the day in Connecticut was very easy, and then the path was just some winding roads. Wait, Connecticut! We have achieved it! I am out of the middle Atlantic! Basically, what I told everyone before starting, was that if I could reach New England, I was quite sure that I could do it mentally until the end. But not only have I dragged through the line to New England, I’m flying in it!

For the first time in always …

The average Atlantic has definitely been the part of the path with which I fought with the majority. I have only been in it for 28 days, or almost four weeks. But during that, I had to take three zeros and six nearby just to feel close to normal. I guess that doesn’t seem much when I put it that way, but it certainly seemed that I was not making much progress. Maybe it is the mentality with which I entered. There is a lot … unknown to the section, apart from «rocks.» That remained true. And without views. The bad conditions did not help either. While I did not think it was bad, apparently June is registered as one of the most humid junes in the history of Pennsylvania, and then we had that mega heat wave! And errors finally began. I know it is partially a confluence of conditions and the climate to catch up. I’m glad to be about to return to what you feel like «house.»

Just when we entered Connecticut, a good breeze began to collect, cooling. It is bustling in the middle Atlantic! But perhaps that is the wind of optimism that extends through New England. We tracked the path and cross Bull’s Run to the nearby inn. There is no signal (or at least, one that saw the climate of us), but the bridge also means that I am 2/3rds of the road made with the path! We celebrate with a lunch. I obtained an open face sandwich and an clams soup from New England. When we went to the 4 … we both knew we were in trouble. There are no real problems. Only sleepy.

It is curious how fast the conversation dies when two people are sleepy. We are still in progress, but honestly, the last 8 miles or so of the day were relatively silent. I accidentally almost lost my walking hat … but I recovered it! I actually met Zen Spiritwalker, another blogger today! While my friend was doing a private career in Shchaghicoke Tentsite, I saw them! So that is great. The tentite is also remarkable for having … well, the private in the following image.

I scratched the shoulder of my cheerful team shirt today! Very sad. I think it’s because I’ve been treating it as a garbage to be fair. It rubs a lot when mosquitoes I have been scratching it and path clothes probably don’t help. A lot of high heat and high temperature heat washes. Oh good. I need to find needle and thread … I’m determined to see this shirt until the end.

When we arrived at Monte’s shelter something, we were both exhausted, but Daniel definitely more than me. I came to bed and wished him the best for tomorrow. You will need it.

The shelter is right next to the city of Kent. And there must be some form of music festival at this time. I can listen to a cover band playing extremely strong music. But well, it’s not the worst white noise, I suppose …
