Former Arsenal player Billy Vigar dies – who was the young person and what happened to him?


Former Arsenal -youth player Billy Vigar died after storing a «considerable brain injury» during a non -competition match in England. He was 21.

His death was confirmed on Thursday by his club, Chichester City.

«We are devastated to hear that Billy Vigar has died,» said the English football club. «We send our sincere condolences to his family, friends, loved ones and everyone at Chichester City FC in this incredibly difficult time.»

«Everyone at Arsenal was destroyed by the shocking news that the former graduated Academy Billy Vigar has died,» said the London club in a statement.

Who was Billy Vigar?

Vigar, an attacker, joined Arsenal’s Academy in 2017 and signed as a professional in 2022. He was described as a «powerful and versatile attacker».

Vigar, who also played on loan for Derby County, was an active player for Chichester, a team in the Isthmian League Premier Division, a semi-professional competition in the lower sports of English football.

What happened to BiLY Vigar?

Vigar was injured early in a competition in Wingate & Finchley FC. Allegedly he sustained the injury when he collided with a wall on the side of the field.

Vigar was placed in an induced coma after stopping the injury in a competition on Saturday for the English Non-League team.

«On Tuesday he needed surgery to help any chances of recovery. Although this helped, the injury turned out to be too much for him and he died on Thursday (25th) morning,» his family said in a statement published via Chichester.

«His family is devastated that this happened while playing the sport that he loved.»

The planned match of Chichester against Lewes on Saturday has been postponed.

The Isthmian League Premier Division further said that a minute of silence would be observed before all matches this weekend, and all players would wear black bracelets.
