Former Barcelona striker Munir escapes Iran with club help amid US-Israel air strikes


Moroccan striker Munir El Haddadi, who previously played for Barcelona, ​​has confirmed he has left Iran safely amid airstrikes in the country from the United States of America and Israel.

“I would like to thank everyone for your messages and concerns about my situation in Iran,” Munir wrote in Spanish Instagram story. “Yesterday we were supposed to leave the country by plane, but in the end we were evacuated from the plane and could not take off.”

Munir, who moved to Iran from Leganes to join Esteghlal FC in September 2025, added that his current club had made arrangements for his safe passage out of Iran.

«The club provided me with a car that allowed me to leave the country by road, and thanks to that I was able to cross the border without any problems. I am now safely in Turkey and will arrive in Spain within a few hours. Thank you all for your kindness.»

A product of La Masia, Munir played for Barcelona for four seasons, winning three La Liga titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2015.
