Former Eastern Bengal coach joins the Spanish National Team for Women Euro 2025


Former assistant coach in Oost -Bengalse, Mario Rivera joined the Spanish national team prior to the European Championships for Ladies that are held in Switzerland from 2 to 27 July.

Rivera became a member of the Spanish ladies team as part of the coaching staff of the World Cup holder who also won the Women’s Nations League in 2024.

Rivera, who coached East Bengal twice, came for the first time to the red and yellow as an assistant coach in the time of Alejandro Mendez Garcia in 2018. His most important responsibility at the time was that of tactical analyst. At that time he was one of the most important players when East Bengalen finished 2nd in the i-League

Later, on January 1, 2022, Rivera was again appointed as head coach of East Bengal in the Indian Super League, successor to Manolo Diaz.

The Spanish national team posted a video on social media where the entire contingent started visiting the royal family. Rivera can be seen in the video together with the rest of the team.

Before he accepted the Spanish team role, the 47-year-old served as an assistant coach of the Al Nassr team in Libya.
