Paul Gascoigne recovers in the hospital after the former star Tottenham and England collapsed in his house.
Gascoigne was taken by his driver and assistant Steve Foster to the hospital, who found the 58-year-old in a semi-conscious state in his dorset house.
«Paul is in the hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be now,» Foster said Sun newspaper.
Allegedly Gascoigne was admitted to an intensive care department on Friday, but was later moved to an acute medical unit, where his condition is stable.
Foster said that Gascoigne «would like to thank everyone for the support he got so far from so many old friends who wish him well and want to see him back to his best.»
One of the most naturally gifted football players of his generation played Gascoigne for Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers, Middlesbrough and Everton.
He was covered 57 times by England and became a global star after his brilliant form at the 1990 World Cup in Italy reached a tearful Crescendo with his emotional response on a yellow card, which would have left him out of the final, in a last four loss against West Germany.

Gascoigne also played for England during his run to the Euro 96 semi -final, where it again lost to Germany.
The problems of the midfielder with alcohol addiction and depression are well documented and he has had a series of health problems in recent years.
In 2020, Gascoigne said he had turned his life after he had sewn anti-alcohol pellets in his belly.
But last year he admitted to the High Performance Podcast That he was a «sad drunk» who lived in a guest room in his agent’s house.
