FPL 2025 Scout: Best Fantasy Premier League Team for Gameweek 9

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is expected to remain the most preferred captain’s choice in the Fantasy Premier League heading into Gameweek 9 of the 2025-2026 season.

Despite a relatively tougher match on paper against Aston Villa, the Norwegian striker, who has been in red-hot form this season, is expected to continue his scoring streak. Villa have kept just two clean sheets this season.

Chelsea have a favorable fixture against newly promoted Sunderland this matchweek, and a double Chelsea defense with Reece James and Robert Sanchez could deliver clean sheets against a team that has scored just one goal in four away games.

Arsenal and Newcastle United are leading the way in clean sheets this season, making Gabriel Magalhaes and Durn Burn consistent points scorers in defence.

Cody Gakpo has scored three goals and two assists for Liverpool this season. With Mohamed Salah underperforming and Hugo Ekititke and Alexander Isak swapping places in the lineup, Gakpo could be a good choice in midfield.

Antoine Semenyo, like Haaland, is a nailed-on starter in most Gameweeks. His 70 points are miles ahead of the next highest scoring midfielder (Moises Caicedo with 46).

Joao Pedro has kept a clean sheet in each of the last four GWs, but the match against Sunderland could finally earn him points. Despite West Ham United’s problems this season, Jarrod Bowen is the fourth highest scoring striker, and a favorable match against Leeds United argues for his inclusion.
