Greenwood scores a hat-trick and helps Marseille to the round of 16 of the French Cup

Mason Greenwood scored a hat-trick and set up two other goals as Marseille defeated regional team Bayeux 9-0 to reach the last 16 of the French Cup on Tuesday.

Greenwood was Marseille’s top scorer last season with 22 goals in all competitions and is already on 19 in 25 games this season.

Attacking partner Amine Gouiri provided two goals and an assist for a spirited but defensively poor Bayeux team. Marseille took their tally of French Cups in two matches to 15 after winning 6-0 at the third level in Bourg-en-Bresse in the previous round.

Greenwood, a former Manchester United player, completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute.

Marseille hosts Rennes in a first division match in the next round early next month.

Title holder Paris Saint-Germain lost 0-1 at home to capital rival Paris FC on Monday.
