US Forward Haji Wright will miss the rest of the Concacaf Gold Cup because of a wounded left Achilles.
A 27-year-old from Los Angeles, Wright scored in the 84th minute of the opening of 5-0 last weekend over Trinidad and Tobago, 11 minutes after arrival. He did not play in Saudi Arabia’s 1-0 win, and the American football federation said on Saturday that he will return to Coventry City for evaluation and treatment.
The American coach Mauricio Pochettino said Wright from the League Championship season arrived with the Achilles problem.
Wright cannot be replaced on the tournament selection. The US, which has already received a quarter -final berth, plays Haiti in the group final of the Americans on Sunday.
«The problem increased the pain,» said Pochettino.
It is unclear whether midfielders Tyler Adams and Johnny Cardoso will be healthy enough to start on Sunday. Adams (Turf) came in against Saudi Arabia and Cardoso (illness) in the 89th in the 62nd minute.
Three days after Juventus players, including Americans Tim Weah and Weston McKennie, stood behind President Donald Trump during an Oval Office Media briefing, Pochettino said for the joke that the national team will receive an invitation from the White House.

«Very jealous because we have not received an invitation,» Pochettino joked. «Maybe we are lucky and will certainly invite them one day.»
Juventus players stood behind Trump during a 16-minute briefing.

Seated Pochettino, the American defender Chris Richards was asked how he felt to answer questions about international events.
«I think what makes America beautiful is that we can all have different opinions, but a bit striving for the same, which is freedom and prosperity,» said Richards. «In this difficult political time, many things going on in the middle and things like that, but I think a thing we can do, gives a little hope to people. That is all we can do right now, and we are no reason for politicians.»
