Ok, maybe the hotel’s dream was not the solution either. Even in a room just for the first time from Carlisle, I didn’t sleep so well. Maybe it’s ice cream just before bedtime? However, I think sweets are worth it. I need the fats and calories of ice cream so as not to be seen as a skeleton.
Today was another lazy morning. With the Upper Goose cabin, too close to doing in two full days of hiking, and too far for a full day of hiking, I decided to do my first morning at Great Barrington! Which mostly meant resting on bed for a while. I did not do any work on the blog, I did not bother to execute the tasks, I went to bed until 8. Then I made a visit to the Café de Río near breakfast, obtaining this chorizo hash that was really good. And coffee. Then I made my first «complete» refueling from the place of Mosey about two weeks ago. Yes, somehow among the restaurants, the findings of the Excursionist and Delis box, I had not bought a single dinner from New Jersey! And now I am in Mass.
Honestly, it took me a little longer than expected. I know that my big mistake every time I return to the city is to buy too many things, so I grabbed enough for two days. It is probably realistically 3 days of food, but maybe it may burn it. Good?
Great Barrington, being in the great state of Massachusetts (can you say that I love being in my native state?), It has a fairly decent bus system under the BRTA, or Berkshire’s regional transit authority, and for this year, they are testing for free buses! Which is good for me, I didn’t have to get my Charlie card that I left at home for this.
I took the bus to the main area of the «Center», where I checked the food cooperative, and I loved it! Unfortunately, I didn’t need anything (and its cheapest Ramens were 2.99 per package … Oh!), But it is a great place to fill Dr. Bronners if he has one of his outstanding aromas. The following was a quick excursion to the library. Being the «birthplace of Web du Bois», GB is quite proud of its literary heritage. In general, I was surprised by the lovely charm of this city. Of all cities so far, it is definitely the one that feels most built for pedestrians If I wasn’t going to spend a lot of time out of the new future, I would probably have stopped for much longer.
While walking for lunch and coffee, I met Batwoman and Reef, who stopped me briefly and let me know that they had seen my face before … and then I entered the fuel cafeteria. He had spent so much time putting through the city that, although he had breakfast in the city, he was ready again for a city lunch! I ate a rapid portion of chicken and gofres, lowering coffee with frozen milk while enjoying the city.
The only key in my entire plan was that I did not have a plan on how to get out of the city. I was about to call some of the local transport drivers when, when I left the store, I noticed that someone had a «AMC Ridgerunner» shirt. It turned out to be Brandon, the head of the crew of local ridiculs! And generously offered me a walk! Many people, when we spent, asked if I was through Hiding, which, sincerely, was also very sweet. Since much of the crowd here is probably here for Tanglewood, and not to the locals, it is great to see how central it is the AT for the city.
When I returned to Route 7 of the USA, I ran back to the hikers Treeman, Tad and Earthstar. In fact, I met Treeman the day before, where he was hiding in the Hemlock shelter. And I met Tad and Earthstar as I was getting into the leg. So it is great to meet again. He almost felt as if we had a mini team/Tramilia today. Or, at least, just some colleagues for the day.
The increases of Route 7 of the USA were brutal, and I think part of that was today, as always, I had more problems with my feet! My socks are grouping a lot for some reason. Spoonman told me this before, but I have been experiencing problems with the dimensioning of hard socks. Mainly, although I am already «big» because of the size I chose, the sock is completely large! The heel cup, when the sock twist, passes straight to my Achilles. Honestly, I am considering getting rid of the great sock of Merino wool, and simply walking in my Impinji soon.
So, with that grouping, I had to take a lot of breaks today to adjust my socks. I had also removed the Superfeet from the shoe, and I discovered that my legs were much happier, even if my feet were not. Ah, the dramas of up to the future. Being stuck in your head all day means feeling every small complaint that your body has.
After some more plains, we finished a beautiful view, where I took the time to eat some weight of my backpack. This morning, I discovered hilariously that the cucumber I packed yesterday was still sitting in my pack. Intact. That is a weight! So I made sure to demolish that quickly.
When I got off the Tom Floyd shelter, I put something. I did not think much about that, since I knew that my shoes were definitely at the end of his life, but while filtering water later, I began to smell something bad. It turns out that I had slipped into a dog peanut and got it on one of the leggings. Ewww … I rinsed the best I could, and washed it with some Dr. Bronners. But it still smells. Oh, well, I don’t do well with dogs.
About 10 minutes later, I realized that I was about 3 miles from the camp, so it was time to start my soak! So I sat down to the side of the path and began to break my ramen in the bottle. When I put the bottle on the floor to pour water, I heard the pattern of the steps, and before realizing, a dog had run on my bottle. Spilling my progress towards the road. The dog owner simply shouted ahead «It’s harmless! It’s fine!» Yes. Your mini scribble is normally harmless. But not for my mental health having to clean the ramen. Puaj. After this and my Marion incident, I think I can officially say. Dogs are the worst.
In Benedict Pond, I actually returned to Vegemite! He had stopped early in his day, and took a dip in the pond, and was camping here. For those who are not tracking, he had walked in Duncannon with him, where he later opened in front of me, before taking a full week at his home in New York. He is now in another slow roll, since his wife comes north of Adams to meet him. We both resolved to see each other tomorrow at the cabin of the Upper Goose ponds, and then I got on the southern Wilcox shelters.
Where I am now! When I got here, I noticed that there were 3 carp games of four people. Uh oh. It was not really so bad, but it turns out that there is a camp group here tonight. However, they stopped at 9, like our application. Its leader apologized and said that the bears box was full, but where there is a will, there is a way. And there is a lot of space in that box.
The only other problem tonight is errors. Massachusetts has been terrible with insects. Santa Vaca. I know we are in a swamp, but there were mosquitoes everywhere while cooking. I was literally walking along a path while ate, and I was still putting me on all surfaces, even where I had clothes on! Oh.
If you can’t say it, although it is a short day, my writing is suffering right now. I’m tired! Bedtime.
