Harry Kane scores Hattrick while Bayern Bundesliga campaign starts with 6-0 win over Leipzig

Harry Kane scored a hat trick in 14 minutes and Michael Olise took two goals while champion Bayern Munich RB Leipzig 6-0 in the Bundesliga opener on Friday and put down an early marker.

England captain and player of the Kane match, who was the top scorer of the competition in the past two seasons, opened his account in the 64th minute before he took two goals in the 74th and 78th to complete Bayern’s impressive show in the seasonal premiere.

The Vincent Kompany team, which lifted the German Supercup last week with a 2-1 win over VFB Stuttgart, seemed more than ready for the competition with a high urgent match that worried Leipzig, and some sharp finish.

«We wanted to send a statement from the first game at home, and that’s what we did today,» said Kane.

«We performed at a very high level and were efficient. We won 6-0, so we can’t complain. After the break we were 3-0 up and I told myself that I had to come on the score sheet.»

From the start it had the visiting side on the rear foot and it struck twice in five minutes to bring the game to bed quickly.

On both occasions, the Leipzig exceeded with a quick passing combination on the edge of the box. Olise drilled from a tight corner in the 27th minute, and new signing, Luis Diaz, noted his first competition goal on his Bundesliga debut with a powerful shot in the 32nd.

With Leipzig Dazed, Serge Gnabry thought he had scored a third goal for the host side in the 40th, but his shot was bent on the bar.

Two minutes later, however, he delivered a well -timed assist for France International Olise in his second goal of the evening.

Kane then picked up the baton in the second half and stepped on the score sheet in the 64th minute after Diaz’s early work. He then screwed a low shot past two defenders to bring the score to 5-0 before he completed his hat trick a little later.

«It was a very good start to the season, not only the result – but also the way we played,» said Bayern’s defensive midfielder Joshua Kimmich. «We showed a lot of energy and kept it high until the end of the game. You could see in the second half that 3-0 was not enough.»

Bayern records the Wehen Wiesbaden of the Third Division on Wednesday for the first round of the German cup before traveling to Augsburg in a week for the second competition day of the Bundesliga.
