Have Real Madrid inspected Kylian Mbappe’s wrong knee? France forwards answers

France forward Kylian Mbappe finally responded to media reports claiming Real Madrid had examined the wrong leg when he suffered a knee injury late last year.

The football program ‘After Foot’ on French broadcaster RMC Sport reported this week that the Spanish club had initially scanned his right knee, instead of the left, in December.

Other media outlets in Spain published similar stories, almost all of them citing RMC.

Mbappe played the entire month of January but was then sidelined for three and a half weeks before making his latest comeback. In response to the reports, Mbappe denied the allegations.

“The report that said they examined the wrong knee is false,” Mbappe said at a news conference ahead of France’s World Cup warm-up against Brazil.

“Maybe I am indirectly responsible for this situation, because if you don’t communicate about what is happening, it opens doors to the interpretations of others.”

The club said at the end of December that Mbappe had sprained his left knee.

Mbappe said he has “very clear communication” with Real Madrid cwhd.

France plays Brazil in Foxborough on Thursday and Colombia in Landover on Sunday.

On Monday in Paris, Mbappé said his knee feels fine. He has come on as a substitute in Real Madrid’s last two games as he looks to get back into form.

“There was a lot of frustration, a lot of anger and at one point also some fear,” Mbappe told French media late on Monday at a promotional event.

«I had reached a stage where I didn’t know what was happening to me anymore. I didn’t go through that period in the best way. I wasn’t the happiest player in the world. But I’m happy now because it’s really behind me. It’s all over.»
