If you have come so far, thank you! You have sailed to my blog and I hope you enjoy what I will write in the coming months. I am happy to be the Trek blogger and I am anxious to share my upcoming adventures with you, including a 42 -mile walk through the Timberline Trail, which surrounds Mount Hood in Oregon.
Hiking history
I grew up in the Los Angeles area, walking by day and visiting Yosemite with a frequency. I have always loved nature. However, there was never backpack (and I didn’t even know it was one thing) until 2020. When Covid hit, he was locked up and craving to be outdoors. He was also sailing for a divorce and needed to win some perspective. I ended up having an intense need to climb Half Dome and decided only one backpack on this trip. Within a week of dreaming of the initial idea, I had a desert permit, backpack team and a newly found passion.
After that first solo backpack trip and a Half Dome summit, I got hooked! It was regularly out of bags and backpackers in Verdugo, San Gabriel, San Bernardino and the impressive mountain range of Sierra Nevada. I decided to try a section of the John Muir path. After investigating more, I thought, Why not walk the whole JMT?
But, as a single mother with a small child, it was not an option for me to be out for more than a few days at the same time. With a fairly twisted logistics planning, I ended up completing the JMT in four sections, ending in just over a year. I walked half the path alone.
After the JMT, I also completed the Trans Catalina Trail with my boyfriend and a solo walk of the border of the Grand Canyon in one day (during a heat wave). I look forward to my next walk, the Timberline Trail.
My love for the backpacker led me to start a guide business, with an approach in introducing the backpack to others! I am also certified by the first aid of Nols Wilderness.
