Path section: Vila do Bispo → Sagres
Distance: Approx. 20 km
Conditions: Warm, sunny and clear skies. Less sand, more rocky terrain under the feet.
Today I walked the path of fishermen from Vila do Bispo to Sagres, and it is official, I have reached the southwest point of Europe: Cabo de São Vicente! It is difficult to believe how fast the path has flown, and with only a few remaining days, I am trying to soak everything.
For always amazed at these points of view: cliffs, wild flowers and that endless blue. The path of the fishermen of Vila do Bispo to Sagres could be my favorite section so far.
Hiking of the path of fishermen from Vila do Bispo to Sagres
One of the most prominent aspects of today was to stand in Cabo de São Vicente. It is a great tourist place, with many cars and visitors, but walking there on foot made it feel even more special. There was something powerful to arrive under my own power, after days of coastal hiking, to reach this dramatic wind barrel point he felt like a great milestone.
We take a break there, sitting in the sun, chatting, seeing waves clash and simply feeling that feeling of «we succeed.»
BY THE WAY – If you missed my blog yesterday on the path of the fishermen, I would recommend checking it!

He arrived in Sagres! After days of walking of the robust coast of Portugal, arriving here on foot, especially in Cabo de São Vicente, it became much more powerful than driving. One of those moments of «we really did this.»
Rocky trails and old ocean floors
The path of fishermen Vila do Bispo to the Sagres section today was different from the previous sections. It was a mixture of rocky terrain and impressive coastal cliffs.
Gone were the soft sand dunes: Today had to do with rocky roads. I spent the morning jumping from rock to rock, imagining how this landscape should have been thousands of years ago. He felt like walking through an old background of the ocean.
My feet are definitely feeling it after more than a week of walking without rest days. My body is rigid and I have been losing the stretching and yoga that I normally do. But I am still free of ampoules (!!!), thanks to some trail mvps: my foot balm and the coatings of Injinji socks. I have been walking with sand constantly in my shoes, without polaros, but somehow there are still no blisters. I have to empty a mini beach of my shoes several times a day, haha.

Channeling my inner mountain goat. This section of the Path of the Fishermen was all rocky roads and the old cliffs, without soft sand in sight. I definitely felt it on my feet, but I really enjoyed the change of land.

Shout at this little can of magic. My feet have taken me through a week of walking with zero blisters: despite the sand, the rocky terrain and not the leggings. Badger Foot Balm + Impinji Sock Liners = Dream Team.
Morning routine + joys of noon
Orion and I stayed in a place last night with a small kitchen, so we made an adequate breakfast this morning and also packed a delicious trail lunch. There was an Aldi near Vila do Bispo, which facilitated the replenishment of the super.
We don’t rush today. The four have really fallen into a rhythm: made, breaking, laughing, sharing stories and sitting in silence. These pauses littleless during the day have become some of my favorite moments.

Homemade trail sandwich + ocean views = luxurious lunch experience
Trail therapy: why walk
I started today feeling low energy. We have been walking for more than a week in a row, and is updating me. But as always, the path worked his magic. Being outside clarifies the head and softens the noise inside. The sound of the sea, salt in the air, the colors of the cliffs, puts me. It reminds me that this simple act of walking and noticing is one of the most powerful forms of therapy that I have met.
I still can’t believe he used to sleep in a tent for six months in a row on the PCT. Now I am in Portugal, showering and sleeping in a bed every night, and my hiker brain is confused but very happy.
Arrival of Sagres + Celebration
We arrived in Sagres early at night and opened some well -deserved sagres beers to celebrate our arrival. It felt correct to enjoy local beer after walking here. Later, we found a cozy place for dinner and stiff vessels to mark the day. Joy, friendship, the sun, everything was so good.

After walking from Vila Do Bispo to this iconic coastal city at the southwest end of Europe, we open the homonymous beer of the city (Sagres) to celebrate. Greetings to day 9 on the path of fishermen!

Perfection after the walk: fresh fish, potatoes and vegetables in sagres.
