Qualification for the Cafa Nations Cup 2025 Play -offs is at stake while India’s performance against Afghanistan in his last game of group B in the Hisor Central Stadium in Hisor, Tadjikistan, on Thursday.
The Blue Tigers played two, one won and one lost, against Tajikistan (2-1) and Iran (0-3), so far, so far in the Cafa Nations Cup.
How can the India of Khalid Jamil qualify for the play -offs of the Cafa Nations Cup?
India is bound with Tadjikistan on three points, and the first is paramount because of a better head-to-head record. The top teams of each group go to the final, while the two second placed teams reach third place, both on 8 September.
As it looks now, the Blue Tigers need a victory against Afghanistan, and hope that Tajikistan will not win against Iran to make progress.
A draw against Afghanistan can also be enough for India, if the match between Iran and Tajikistan also ends in a draw or an Iranian victory.
However, a defeat will lead to elimination, because in such a scenario Tajikistan would have the better goal difference in the games that are played between the three teams, each of which would end at three points (Tadjikistan, India and Afghanistan).
