How the Trail community inspired me to raise funds on my CDT through

Do you know that feeling (whether you are a tram or not), when a kind stranger ends up giving you exactly what you need? Cold water after a long and dry stretch, a trip to the city when you are injured or simply hungry. It is one of the best feelings in the world. Sometimes called Trail Magic, I write about this often, and there is within the kingdom that contains the best parts of humanity. People of all origins, ages, points of view see a person in need and simply help them, often no questions are asked.

This beautiful part of humanity endures even in the most deplorable situations of the earth: through natural disasters, wars, epidemics, etc., and that is why through this I have chosen to help support brave and friendly humans who provide magic in the form of critical medical care for people around the world.

Founded in 1971 to provide ethical, independent and neutral medical care to those who need desperate need, my goal is to raise $ 1 per mile for the doctor without borders. This organization has avoided being co -opted by the government or political influence by depending mainly on private donations. It serves a fundamental role in more than 70 countries, for people from all origins who would not receive help otherwise.

After having worked for the United States forest service, the parks service and non -profit organizations, generally advocate for nature based on humans instead of humans. But as I realized when I walked on the PCT, «I went out to want a great nature experience, but I could also experience humanity in him absolutely the best.» Being on their way, individuals and community on the road are the ones who make it really special and would not be the same without them. Often, just a cold soda on the road can do all my day. I can only imagine the joy someone feels when a humanitarian doctor saves his son when he thought that all hope was lost, or gives them a treatment to save lives that had resigned to see.

I know that when it comes to that, when the shit really hits the fan, we want someone there to take care of us. My aspiration is that, among all the agitation of today’s news, I can help channel that chaotic energy in a focused objective that will provide that brightness of hope, of magic, to those who have lost it.

Until now, I have successfully collected $ 740 and I am currently 719 miles on my walk to the Canadian border. Consider donating any amount, however small, to maintain this aspiration. And if you can’t at this time, this publication may pass and support the impulse. Thank you for reading and sharing, and thanks to the community of trails for the inspiration to do something else.

Greetings, rogue
