I’m back!
Greetings from my favorite blogging spot, the chaise lounge of our chocolate brown microfiber Bob’s sectional. In an ideal world, I would have the wood stove 10 feet in front of me on fire, with the logs crackling, competing with the tapping of my laptop keyboard. It’s currently down because we haven’t been able to stack firewood since we got home from the trail about a week ago. One of the many things we have been putting off. It’s always a bit of a jarring transition back to normal life after a hike. I’m taking it day by day and slowly but surely getting to all the things that need attention. This blog is one of those things I decided to check out today.
I spent some time this morning describing how I want to share the rest of my walk with you. What to group, a schedule of when to publish it. Honestly, it’s a little overwhelming going through all the content I’ve created over the past few months. I just need to start somewhere, and getting organized is usually the best way to start. I also need to hold myself accountable for finishing these blogs because I have ADHD and have trouble starting/completing tasks and managing time, but also because I have set a self-imposed deadline to complete my CDT blogs in February. Why the shortage of time? Well, that’s because:
I’m climbing the AT next year!
I said it there! I’ve been keeping that news to myself, or at least off the Internet. But back-to-back CDT and AT have been the plan for my husband, The Show, and me for a while now.
“But she didn’t already do the AT…??”
Yes, and I’m actually going through it. again. Because? I will answer that question in a future blog, stay tuned!
For my current purposes, I’m announcing it now because I plan to start heading north in mid-February. That means I have a little over three months between tests. A lot of time, but almost nothing. I’m not panicking, really, I’m not. Well, maybe a little…
Blog programming and focus
I want to have all my CDT blogs finished before I start the AT. That way they won’t block me at the start of a new hike. I think it would be demotivating for me to continue blogging about a previous hike during the current one. So I’ll do my best to stick to a schedule. I’ll pick up where I left off with my CDT trail updates and post them chronologically. I’m planning on blogging once or twice a week on Wednesdays and/or Sundays, working around upcoming holidays and other obligations I have. You can see them those days, from now on! Be sure to subscribe if you want to receive reminders when I post directly to your email inbox.
If you follow my instagram – and you should, I post a lot more photos along with video content from my walks there – you may have noticed that I’ve been quiet there too. I’m done and decided to stop posting my CDT hike until I start blogging about it again. Honestly, it was great to just enjoy the trail and capture your images along the way without having to worry about collecting, editing, and sharing all that content at the time. Now I can go over it all and relive it with all of you!
You may also have noticed that I’ve been coyly vague about the end of my CDT hike. That’s intentional. I’ve tried to use phrases like «be back» from my walk instead of «finish,» for example. After all, I realized I didn’t have to totally spoil the ending. I mean, if you really want to know RIGHT NOW, I’m sure you can spoil it yourself by doing a little research on the Internet. But you will only find breadcrumbs, not the bread.
Let me tell you the whole story. I can’t wait to take you back to the Continental Divide Trail with me.
