«I have never felt better,» says the Erling Haaland of Manchester City while the target streak continues

Even by goal machine Erling Erling Haaland’s elevated standards, his start of this season has been extraordinary.

The Norwegian hit the only goal in the 1-0 win of Manchester City in Brentford on Sunday and brought his count to nine goals in seven Premier League matches.

For Club and Country he has already gathered 18 in 11 games, but only scoring once, and the 25-year-old scored for the first time in his career in nine consecutive games.

«I have never felt better than me now,» said Haaland, who showed his pace and power to join Josko Gvardiol’s Lofted Pass before he hit a shot past Caoimhin Kelleher.

«It’s about preparation, preparing for the games. You can be physically ready, but you have to be mentally ready,» he added.

Haaland scored 36 Premier League goals in his first season for City, 27 the season thereafter and 22 last season.

That downward trend was a potential care for the city, but Haaland looks rejuvenated, and he said that much of it had to do with becoming a father for the first time a year ago.

«With a child it makes me even better because I broke more than ever – I don’t think about football at all,» he said.

«When you are young, you think here and that and maybe you worry about things, but when I get home, I relax even more. I think I should scream my son,» he added.

While Haaland looks razor -sharp, manager Pep Guardiola wants goals from other sources.

Against Brentford, City dominated the first half, but could not add to the ninth minute Opener of Haaland and almost paid the price when the host bombarded it by the end with high balls and long throws.

«He has been so important to us this season, I would say. We need more goals from the other, but the chance was the chance,» Guardiola said.

«The wing players have to score more goals, the wing players have to score in those situations, one against one, one against two. But we will do it step by step. It was much more solid with the team in the game; it will be fine,» he added.

Guardiola’s only worries on the way to the international break was an injury to the Spanish midfielder Rodri who hobbled away halfway through the first half with a hamstring injury.

«So it is muscular for two weeks or three weeks. Of course I don’t even want to lose him a little. We tried to take care of him, but it is what it is,» he said.
