«Ice-Cole» Palmer has realized his nickname in a burning club World Cup Final on Sunday and scored twice in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Paris St Germain on another Sprovendag in Metlife Stadium.
Temperatures rose above 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29.4 degrees Celsius) in Oost -Rutherford, New Jersey, but the Chelsea Talisman had ice cream in his veins while taking two goals in eight minutes in the first half.
He earned the Golden Ball as the best player of the tournament.
The man of the match in the 4-1 Conference League victory of Chelsea on Real Betis in May, Palmer again showed that he is doing his best work among the biggest spotlights, because he also recorded an assist for Joao Pedro in the 43rd minute.
«I love the final. It happened again,» he said Dazn.
«It’s a great feeling,» he added. «Even better because everyone doubted us before the competition, we knew that. To argue as we did, it is good.»
A product from the Manchester City Academy, Palmer made his senior debut with the team in September 2020, but never received the minutes on the field that he believed he deserved and went to Chelsea three years later with the promise of more playing time.
He wasted no time to be the new hero of Chelsea, shot in goals in his first season with the club, and the final of Sunday marked another chapter in his success story, with Man City eliminated from the tournament in the round of 16.
He destroyed PSG’s defense in a sensational first half on Sunday, ran up and down on the right channel before he hit a tidy left goal in the 22nd minute in the 22nd minute.

He doubled the score eight minutes later, again aimed at the top left corner of the goal when the legions of blue-covered Chelsea fans burst into the excavation.
«I just try to do my job every time I go on the field and hopefully it can continue,» he said reporters after the game.
The European and French champion PSG came from an extraordinary season, but seemed overwhelmed again when Palmer Pedro set up with a neat film with two minutes left in the first half.
«Today we found a position for him where there was more room to attack,» said Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca. «Cole played very well, but the effort of all players was fantastic.»
