Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) launched its IFA Shield 2025 campaign with an emphatic 5-1 win against Gokulam Kerala FC at the Kishore Bharati Stadium in Kolkata on Thursday.
The Mariners gained early control when Alberto Rodriguez scored the opener in the eleventh minute.
Australian striker Jamie Maclaren doubled the lead just before half-time and sent MBSG into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Gokulam Kerala briefly found a lifeline early in the second half and pulled one back through an unfortunate own goal from Apuia. However, the Kolkata side quickly increased their attacking pressure after the concession.
The match also saw new summer recruits Robson Robinho and Mehtab Singh make their first starts for the club.
Brazilian forward Robinho marked the occasion with his debut goal in the 54th minute. This came shortly after Rodriguez had already scored his second of the match just three minutes earlier.
Maclaren sealed the dominant performance in the 75th minute by completing his brace, making the final score 5-1 to Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
