The first half saw both teams battle for possession in midfield, but neither was able to create clear openings for the attackers. It was a period of much struggle, in which both teams maintained a strong defensive organization, which limited opportunities from open play.
The visitors started the second half on the front foot, showing more intent in the attacking third and breaking the deadlock nine minutes after the restart. Castañeda received the ball on the edge of the penalty area, but was held up by Amid Arezou, who blocked his way. The Colombian managed to roll the ball across the six-yard box, catching the defenders off guard, and Fabrice Kah reacted quickest by bundling the ball into the back of the net.
