IFL 2025-26: Visiting Chanmari stuns Real Kashmir 2-1

Goals from Marlon Rangel and Lalruatsanga in both halves saw Chanmari FC edge past Real Kashmir 2-1 in an Indian Football League 2025-26 match at the TRC Stadium in Srinagar on Monday.

Marius Bedzigui scored for the home side to halve the deficit, but Chanmari FC held on to their lead and climbed to seventh in the table with eight points. Real Kashmir remained at the bottom of the table with two points from seven matches. Marlon Rangel was named Player of the Match.

The home side dominated large parts of the first half, making good use of the windy conditions that made it difficult for midfielders to make accurate forward passes. Real Kashmir’s foreign signings, along with captain Mohammad Inam, impressed as they looked the most likely team to score. At the other end, Chanmari relied on their pace to threaten on the counter.

The Snow leopards hit the woodwork twice in the first half. Inam hit the first post after a setup by Junior Traore. Later in the half, Bedzigui himself saw his effort from the edge of the penalty area bounce against the crossbar after a well-worked corner kick.

Chanmari took the lead from a set piece just before half time. P. Christopher Kamei floated a chipped ball into the penalty area, and Real Kashmir goalkeeper Sayad Bin misjudged the flight, missing the ball completely and leaving the goal uncovered. Marlon Angel had the simplest task, guiding it to the net and giving the visitors the lead they took into the break.

The visitors doubled their lead just after the hour mark, taking advantage of poor defending from Real Kashmir. Christopher Kamei was again the provider as his corner was expertly side-footed into the net by Lalruatsanga, who crossed in front of his marker.

The Snow leopards just two minutes later he pulled one back. Shedrack Charles was brought down on the edge of the penalty area and awarded a free kick in a dangerous position. Marius stepped up and curled a brilliant effort over the five-man wall into the net, leaving the goalkeeper on the spot.

Charles squandered a glorious chance to level the score as Real Kashmir continued to push for an equalizer. Marius, who was the star performer for the home side, delivered a low cross from the right that the defender failed to clear, allowing the ball to fall kindly to Shedrack. However, from just six meters away, the attacker blasted his effort over the bar.

Chanmari looked in control for the rest of the match, even as the home side pushed for an equalizer, but could not create clear opportunities and cause the defense problems. Ultimately, the away side maintained a one-goal lead and secured three crucial points.
