The 2025-26 season of the Indian Super League (ISL) has been placed «on hold» because of delays in the renewal of the Master Rights Agreement (MRA) between the organizers and the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the competition confirmed on Friday.
Normally from September to April, the current MRA between Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), which organizes the event, and the AIFF will end on December 8, 2025, making the ISL in the third month.
«In the absence of a confirmed contractual framework after December, we notice that we cannot effectively plan, organize or commercialize the ISL season 2025-26,» FSDL said in a letter to all ISL clubs.
«In view of this situation, we regret to inform you that we are currently unable to continue with the ISL season 2025-26 and put it on hold until the clarity continues on the contractual structure after the end of the current MRA period.
