India beats Oman on penalties to finish third in Cafa Nations Cup 2025


The Indian men’s football team received the better by Oman 3-2 to finish here third in the Cafa Nations Cup and beat its higher opponents from West Asia for the first time.

The match ended 1-1 in the control time after Udanta Singh scored the equalizer for India.

In the shootout Oman missed his first two chances, while Gurpreet Singh Sandhu saved the last penalty when India victor came against his higher opponent in the third fourth place classification match.

Lallianzuala Chhange, Rahul Bheke and Jithin MS scored for India in the shootout, while Anwar Ali and Udanta missed their places at the Central Stadium of Hisor.

Both parties finished second in their groups and set up third place.

Since 2000, India has lost six of his nine games against Oman. The two teams were last facing each other in March 2021, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
