Indian striker Manisha Kalyan found the net for another foreign club and scored for Peruvian top club Alianza Lima on Friday.
Manisha, who previously played for Apollon Ladies in Cyprus and PAOK in Greece, joined Peruvian champions Alianza Lima in January this year.
She made her debut in a 3–1 win over Deportiva Universitaria on 6 February and opened her account against Universidad Catolica in a 4–1 win in a friendly match in Chile. It was the second time Manisha has found the net in South America, with her previous goal coming in a 1-6 defeat for India against Brazil in 2021.
The forward has won six major trophies in two countries, India and Cyprus, at just 24 years of age.
She won two Indian Women’s League titles with Gokulam Kerala (2019-20, 2021-2022) and two Cypriot First Division titles (2022-23, 2023-24), the Cypriot Women’s Cup (2022-2023) and the Cypriot Women’s Super Cup (2023) with Apollon Ladies.
Manisha, the first Indian to play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League – with Apollon Ladies – will join the Indian women’s national team in Australia for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup shortly before India begins its campaign on March 4.
India have qualified for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup on merit for the first time, and Manisha is expected to be one of the key players in the frontline.
