Naushad Moosa’s India Under-23 team opened its Tri-Nation Friendly Tournament campaign in Arunachal Pradesh with a resounding 5-0 win over Bhutan at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Yupia on Saturday.
With this win, the Blue Colts currently top the three-team standings, with the top team taking the title at the end of the round-robin stage.
It was Ricky Haobam who gave India the lead in the 43rd minute. Suhail Bhat’s brace and second-half goals from Tomba Haobam and Muhammed Ajsal secured a convincing win.
India will take on Tajikistan in the final match of the tournament on March 31, in a match that will decide the winner of the competition.
