India International Jithin MS has signed a contract extension with Northeast United FC who will keep him in the club until the end of the 2028 season, the Indian Super League (ISL) equipment announced on Friday.
The 27-year-old joined the club at the start of the 2022-23 season and turned out to be 79 times for the Highlanders in competitions with 14 goals and 15 assists so far. Jithin has won the Santosh trophy with Kerala (2017-18) and several I-League titles with Gokulam Kerala (2020-21, 2021-22), flourished in Northeast United FC.
«My teammates and the coaching staff helped me to improve much, and their support played an important role in winning the Golden Ball and earning the national team. I am proud to have reached these milestones with Northast United FC. This club has become home for three years, and I said Jithin.
During last year’s Durand Cup, in which the Highlanders raise his first piece of silverware, Jithin received the prestigious Golden Ball as ‘most valuable player’ of the tournament. He scored four goals and offered three assists during the campaign.
In the ISL season of 2024–25, he was the only Indian player to see in the top ten of the competition for assists and ended with five. He is sixth on the list of players with the most opportunities (41 chances) and is one of the three Northast United FC players on the top 10 list, next to Alaeddine Ajaraie (52) and BANANTHANGLUN SAMTE (43).
