India lost 2-0 to Bangladesh on Monday in a group match of the 2026 SAFF Under-19 Women’s Championship, which took place at the Pokhara Rangasala Stadium in Pokhara.
The Bengal Tigers took the lead in the 29th minute through Aprita Biswas. Alpi Akter doubled her team’s lead before halftime.
Bangladesh, five-time champions, secured their place in the final with two wins from as many matches. The country defeated Bhutan 12-0 in the group stage opener, before adding another win over India.
Although this is an U-19 tournament, India have traveled to Pokhara with a U-17 squad preparing for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup to be held later this year.
The Young Tigresses, who started their campaign with a 1-0 win against hosts Nepal, will need to win their final group match to keep their hopes of progress alive.
The final group matches will take place on Wednesday, February 4, with India taking on Bhutan and Nepal taking on Bangladesh.
The final is scheduled for February 7.
