India qualifies for the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup after 20 years

India qualified for the 2026 AFC Under-17 Women’s Asian Cup with a 2-1 win over Uzbekistan at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek on Friday.

This is the first time that the Young Tigresses have qualified for the continental tournament on merit.

The last time India played the championship was in 2005, when eleven teams participated directly. However, since the introduction of the qualification system, India has never been able to belong to the Asian elite.
