Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championships: India enters quarterfinals with commander’s victory on the VAE
India recorded his place in the quarterfinals of the Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championships After registering a commander 110-83 victory over the United Arab Emirates in his group D-Meeting, here on Saturday.
The victory came on the back of the strong opening day of India against Sri Lanka on Friday.
With Hong Kong also two wins from two games, both teams have protected their spots in the knock -out phase.
India and Hong Kong will now collide on Sunday to decide the group D topper.
The tournament is played under an relay score format, where teams race to 110 points in 10 games.
India started with a flying start with the singles player Rujula Ramu from girls who defeated MySha Khan 11-5, followed by the mixed doubles combination of C Lalramsanga and Taarini Suri who expanded the lead to 22-11.
India maintained its lead during the game despite lively resistance of the VAE in a few games. Halfway through the phase, the scoreboard 55-41 read in favor of India.
US Open finalist Tanvi Sharma then delivered a clinical achievement against Madhumita SundaraPandian to extend the lead to 66-46.
Lalramsanga returned to the court, this time to work with Reshika you in the second mixed doubles rubber, where she surpassed Adithya Kiran and MySha Khan 11-5 to bring India to 77-51, so that the team was effectively placed in the driver’s seat.
India had achieved its best result in the mixed team event in 2011, in which a bronze medal was held.

Srihari is missing the last
Srihari Nataraj rewrote the ‘Best Indian Performance’ time for 200m freestyle for men twice a day while he swimming 1: 48.11 in the semi-final at the World University games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, Friday.
Srihari, who had timed 1: 48.22 in the heats to qualify for the semi -final, missed the final with 0.07 seconds.

Kadhe and Prashanth Exit Swiss open
Arjun Kadhe and Vijay Sundar Prashanth ended up as semi -finalists at the Swiss Open after losing straight sets against third seeds Albano Olivetti and Hendrik Jebens in Gstaad.
The non-SEEDED KADHE and PRASHHHHNH fought tooth and nail before they lost 7-5, 7-5 in one hour and 22 minutes from the Franco-German combination on Friday.
So Kadhe missed participation in his second ATP 250 final. He had won the Almaty open last year with fellow countryman Rithvik Bollipalli.

Minerva Academy becomes U14 champions in Gothia ‘World Youth’ Cup
Punjab’s Minerva Academy FC was advertised the Champions of Gothia Cup, as the World Youth Cup, in the Boys Under-14 category in Gothenburg, Sweden, two years after winning the U-13 title.
Escuela de Football 18 Tucuman of Argentina, based on Mohahali, defeated Mohali 4-0 in the final on Saturday.
It had won the Boys U-13 title in 2023 after beating the Brazilian side command FC 2-0 in the final and then became the first Indian club that became champion of the prestigious tournament. Minerva was at the top of the group after beating LB07, Skoftbyns IF and Stensatra IF – all Swedish clubs. Then the Syricska van Zweden beat the semi-final in the semi-final with rhythm and Chetan T scored the goals in the 9-a-side match.
In the final, Minerva 4-0 winner against the Argentinian club with Rhythm, Yohenba, Raj and Denamoni who found the goals.
Seventy-six teams from 10 different countries participated in the Boys 14B category. The teams were divided into 16 different groups and Minerva were placed in group 12.
At Gothia Cup, Girls U13, Boys U13, Girls U14B and boys U14B play 9-a-side. There are nine players on the field – one goalkeeper and eight players. Each team can use a maximum of 16 players (nine players on the field and seven replacements) in a match. A replacement player can re -enter the match. One over-aged player is allowed in the schedule for every match.
Other rules are the same as in 11-a-side match.
Minerva scored more than 50 goals in the entire tournament and only gave in to it.
The Gothia Cup is the world’s largest youth tournament organized by Professional Football Club BK Hacken and has been held annually in Gothenburg, Sweden since 1975.
This year it was the Silver Jubilee edition. A record -breaking 1,920 teams this year took part of the only 275 in 1975. Every year around 1700 teams from 80 countries participate in the Gothia Cup and they play 4500 games on 110 throws during a week in July in a football festival of young people.
