India’s Soumya Guguloth to miss AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifications against Iraq, Thailand because of surgery


India Vooruit Soumya Guguloth will not be available for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifications on the side against Iraq and Thailand after surgery.

«Soumya Guguloth sustained a nasal bone fracture during the second half of yesterday’s game against Timor-Leste. She was immediately taken to the hospital and was successfully operated on last night. She has been fired since then and has now been back in the team hotel,» the camp of the team announced.

The 23-year-old is put aside for at least a month when she recovers from the injury.

In the first qualifying match of India in this campaign against Mongolia, which won the Blue Tigresses 13-0, Soumya took a brace and was dangerous on the left flank.

India is currently on top of group B, prior to Thailand because of a better goal difference, because it is preparing for Iraq on Wednesday in its penultimate competition in the qualifications.

In his last game, the Crispin Chettri-Coached Side Timor Leste defeated 4-0. Only the group winner goes on to the tournament that will be held in Australia next year.

The Blue Tigresses played, although they played in the Asian Cup 2022 because of the host country, qualified for the continental tournament in 2003.
