Inter Milan will have to do without captain and top scorer Lautaro Martinez in the Serie A match against Como on Sunday, the Italian leader said.
“Medical tests today (Friday) revealed mild muscle strain in his left calf,” Inter said in a statement, adding that the attacker’s “condition will be reassessed in the coming days.”
Reports in the Italian media suggested the 28-year-old could return once next week’s home game against Cagliari takes place.
Inter have a seven-point lead over resurgent reigning champions Napoli with seven games remaining in the Serie A season.
Martinez, the league’s top scorer with 16 goals this season, was sidelined for six weeks between February and March due to muscle injuries.

On his return last weekend, the Argentine scored a brace in a 5-2 win over Roma.
In his absence, Inter had a difficult march with two defeats and a draw in three games to give hope to the chasing pack.
They face a tricky trip up against fourth-placed Como, desperate not to give further encouragement to Napoli and third-placed AC Milan, who are nine points behind.
Inter coach Cristian Chivu is expected to guide Marcus Thuram with Pio Esposito leading the charge in Martinez’s absence.
