Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba from MLS All-Star Game in Austin

Lionel Messi will miss the Major League Soccer All-Star match against Liga MX on Wednesday evening.

Messi’s teammate at Inter Miami, Jordi Alba, will also miss the game.

A spokesperson for the MLS said that Inter Miami League officials informed that the two players will not appear in the game at the Q2 Stadium.

Both can experience a suspension of one match for missing the All-Star game without a credible injury report. The competition will talk to Inter Miami officials before he offers an update on possible suspensions.

Messi missed the All-Star competition with an injury last year.

Messi is connected to Nashville striker Sam Surridge for the MLS lead in goals scored with 18. Messi has scored two goals in six of his last seven games.
