About me …
Many of you who are following this blog can know me personally through my work, but there may be many things that you do not know, so here there are some fun data. It is possible that they can dissipate some of these preconceived notions that I am absolutely crazy to do this, alone.
My story …
- I grew up in Hawaii, a little spoiled because there are no creatures or bears to be afraid while walking and camping. I spent a lot of time in my butt store.
- It was a girl scout all the brownies until I graduated from high school. I obtained my golden prize, which is the equivalent of an Eagle Scout.
- My first introduction to hiking was to learn about the path of the Appalaches on a girl scout trip in North Carolina when I was in high school. They had a panel discussion where there was a woman who had done all the walk. This was in the early 90s, so this was a great achievement for a woman at that time. I bought the published magazine of this woman from her trip.
- After this, I dragged my dad and my brother backing along the coast of Na Pali. I think this was a transformative experience for all and it was the theme of my university essays.
Exhausted, hot, sweaty after finishing the Na Pali Coast Trail.
Previous through walks …
- From the coast of Na Pali, I have walked Hale’akala Crater, Tahoe Rim Trail, Skyline to the Sea, High Sierra Trail and the Ohlone path as walks, but none provided that the PCT.
- I regularly backs into the Henry Coe State Park to train in winter and try equipment, as well as in the Tahoe area in the summers. I have covered a good majority of Henry Coe and Desolation Wilderness. Almost all of these were alone.
Training…

The summit of my daily training walk and the meditation maze. I spend a lot of time here. View of the San Francisco Bay.
- I am veterinarian, so having some medical knowledge is very useful in the field.
- I have my first desert responder certificate, sometimes I am voluntary to teach WFA and WFR classes.
- I have made trips with the trips of Andrew Skurka, which include navigation training, etc.
- I have my amateur radio license.
Other fun events … unrelated to hiking
- I have a wonderful and supportive husband and two cats. My walk begins on our anniversary!
- I also have an exact age of California turtle, 90-100 years. It’s called Goophus.
- My degree was in astronomy because I originally wanted to be an astronaut.
- I have lived in Hawaii, California, Washington, Colorado, Massachusetts, Michigan and Minnesota.
- I have competed in triathlons since 2002, and finally I made an Ironman in 2021. That day it was more than 100F, and after finishing around midnight, I was «one and did it» with that.
