Riviere Madeleine to Saint Yvon

The teacher Trailsman and I got up at 6:00 am and had breakfast outside in the small cabin cover. Super Strider continued to sleep, or at least he tried. I love starting the day looking at this view.

Starting things today, I decided to follow the road instead of going inwards along the IAT.

I connected a Francis near Lac and walked a little on the path before he went to the 132 highway. It was slightly covered with saturated vegetation and essentially just a green tunnel. This made me feel a bit frustrated with things, if it is honest. However, just before getting on the road, I ran into another hiker, Shufflin ‘.

Shufflin ‘is from Halifax, New Scotland and I think I was walking through the IAT Quebec section. We both headed north and walked and talked in the city of Grand-Vallee. There was a little pleasant market where I expected to find some of picking me in the form of soft soft drinks. However, after looking for several times in my backpack, I concluded that I had left my wallet in the motel or in the car with the crew. So I kept trekking.

The next was what Farout called a «beach path.» He had just over 3 miles in length and was not really a path as the follow -up of Waters Edge through any path that was better. I loved it! Sometimes it was irregular and at an angle angle and other times they were small loose stones. Then, there were super rounded cobblestones sections. I took my time, stopping to look closely or to look up or down on the shore. They were some of my favorite miles of ECT …

Introduction to the Beach Path (day 238)

It was shortly after 12:30 pm when I reached the end of this first beach path. Time worked perfectly for a small noon meeting with the team! And, as it turned out that there was a beautiful giant terrace with picnic tables where we could have lunch together.

Photographic credit to Super Strider Sheryl. She saw me walking as I approached the end of the beach ride.

This was a fun stop. Mom and dad had collected a hogaza of fresh bread that really gave in the place and all snacks and sodas were also delicious. First category everywhere. Shufflin even updated and joined us a little and when we continue, we both went together.

There were about 2 miles on the road before the IAT faded again. The idea had been building in my head throughout the day, and at this crossing, I put it into action. Instead of addressing the inland to the forest, I decided to follow the road. The inclination to achieve this maneuver came from a mixture of some different things.

I love having St. Lawrence in sight and, therefore, even if it was a walk by road, I realized that this was my preference. From what I could see when I looked at the map and read comments, IAT sections would be overlooked not showing any mountain vision. Therefore, I thought it would probably resemble what I experienced in the morning, a forest tunnel through Atv Type Trail. There is nothing wrong with that, it’s just that I have already walked many similar things in the ECT. All these coastal things are new, on the other hand.

In addition to all that, I realized that to maintain my schedule, I was going to have to get a few days of mileage and change of elevation. And, to be straight with you, I feel quite tired. I would not say that it is as if Jackson Browne «ran in the vacuum state», but maybe my figurative gas tank is below a tank room, let’s say. Or maybe it is as if the low fuel light simply appeared, but you know you are sure to move forward before leaving. Therefore, making some switcheroos to have a less strenuous path that miles felt like something to do in my mind.

Not everything was great, but on the way I found some interesting scenes that I liked …

The photo below is from a 50cc Honda uproar. A few years ago I had the same, the same color and everything, and its name was Remus. He surpassed the a whopping 35 mph. Someday I hope to have one again and when I do, my scheme is «Scooterpack» throughout the country from east to west. I like the idea of creating a route that connects the three long paths near its northern terminal ‘. Walking this section, I am thinking that I could have to start here in Quebec 😅.

That concluded my walk for the day. Once again, the support team picked me up and this time it was taken to a new motel. It is very pleasant to take a shower at the end of each day and a good hot meal and hang myself with my pios.

A note of the Author

The outdoor has always been an important part of my life. Even when I was very young, I was playing in forests and fields, walking through ponds full of frogs and slipping and sliding in muddy stream banks. I had access to the natural space just in my backyard and grew up in a family that loved to spend time and recreate outside. They taught me all kinds of things about the nature of my parents, whom their parents had taught them. I have so much gratitude for this education, but I see more and more how privileged it was to have this.

Not everyone presents to the positive aspects of natural spaces at an early age. Not everyone has a story in which the outdoors felt safe. And for those who want to try it, it may be expensive to get all the necessary equipment to do it safely. There are systems and barriers that prevent groups of people from accessing all these wonders that I grew up knowing.

The outdoor is for everyone! That’s why I’m supporting Outdoor empowered network (OEN) In your mission of increasing outdoor access! My goal is to raise $ 2 for your efforts for every mile you walk or kayak on this trip. The moment I write this, everyone has raised $ 7,076, which is really surprising. I am very close to the end of my walk and the final number I hope to reach is $ 9,393. I think we can still achieve this goal!

So, I am making a final impulse, asking those who wish to help all children get access to the outdoors, to help support OEN. Consider attributing what I can. Everything makes a difference. The «Council author» button is a direct link to my fund collection page. You are really incredible. Thank you.

OEN is connecting people, especially young people, outdoors through the planting and support of gear libraries, offering training in outdoor and security skills, and being intentional about inclusion. What I love about OEN is that it is a network throughout the country, but in a very local way and directed by the community. This hits me home.

In collaboration with others, OEN began Gear’s library in my hometown of Grand Rapid, Michigan. Today, Gr Outsis is one of the numerous members in the OEN network. I was able to visit your team library shortly before taking off this Ect trip and I was surprised by the incredible ways in which they support my community. In addition to providing team needs to people, they are associating with other groups to focus on organized outdoor recreational experiences focused on young people! He is really inspiring and that is why I hope you only to support his efforts.
