Alexander Isak has been named in Liverpool’s squad for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain as the Swedish forward returns from a long injury absence.
Isak has made just 16 appearances for Liverpool since his British record move from Newcastle United last year after struggling with a series of fitness problems.
In December, Isak was injured in a tackle from Micky van de Ven while scoring the opening goal in a 2–1 win against Tottenham Hotspur, leading to surgery on an ankle injury, including a fractured fibula.

After 15 weeks on the sidelines, the 26-year-old is finally ready to return to Liverpool’s squad.
«Alexander Isak is among the players who left John Lennon Airport for Paris this afternoon ahead of Wednesday evening’s quarter-final at the Parc des Princes,» Liverpool said on their website.
Isak returned to group training last Thursday and worked with his teammates on Tuesday morning before heading to France.
Isak’s absence is clearly felt and his place in the 21-man squad for the trip to Paris could be a big boost for Arne Slot’s sputtering team.
The pressure on Slot and his team is increasing after Saturday’s dismal 4-0 defeat against Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
Liverpool are languishing in fifth place in the Premier League and the Champions League is the last hope for success this season.
The Reds were eliminated from the Champions League on penalties by PSG in the round of 16 in 2025.
