East Bengal FC once again walked a tightrope and it came back to haunt them as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kerala Blasters FC in an Indian Super League match at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday.
Edmund Lalrindika’s pass to Youssef Ezzejjari led to a first-half penalty, which the latter calmly converted by sliding the ball into the right side of the net to give East Bengal the lead.
Kerala Blasters started the match as the better team but gradually lost momentum and could not capitalize on the chances. East Bengal head coach Oscar Bruzon would not be a happy man as his side’s finishing has been a talking point this season and it cost them two points again on Saturday.
AS IT HAPPENED: EBFC VS KBFC HIGHLIGHTS
East Bengal held on to the 1-0 lead until the 90+2 minute mark, when the defense briefly lost concentration and Muhammad Ajsal made the most of it by heading in the late equalizer.
The draw helped East Bengal climb to third place behind Jamshedpur FC but did little for Kerala Blasters as it remained just one place above the relegation zone tsn7.
