ISL 2025-26: Bengaluru look to bounce back with win against Punjab FC

Bengaluru FC return to the Sree Kanteerava Stadium and look to return to winning ways after a 1-1 draw against NorthEast United FC.

Despite taking an early lead through Braian Sánchez’s 20-minute strike, the Blues were set back by a brilliant goal from Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia.

Reflecting on his team’s return to Bengaluru and the tactical adjustments required to maintain the form, Bengaluru FC head coach Renedy Singh emphasized the importance of maintaining the intensity. “We need to have more control of the ball and create more chances in the final third,” he said. “If we are consistent in defense and maintain the same intensity for 90 minutes, we will be closer to winning games.”

Bengaluru FC midfielder Lalremtluanga Fanai said: «The intensity has to be absolutely high depending on the playing style of the coach. My job is to help the defenders and at the same time initiate the attack. I absolutely enjoy this dual role. I get great support from my teammates when the situation is challenging.»

Punjab FC travels to Bengaluru after a setback in the first match against Jamshedpur, which they lost 0-1. Known for its organized structure, Punjab held their ground for much of its final match before conceding a goal in the late 78th minute.

Confidence will be needed to beat his opponent in the group stages of the AIFF Super Cup. Punjab FC have a better head-to-head record against Bengaluru, winning two matches and drawing one, while Bengaluru have one win to their name.

Speaking about the encounter, Punjab FC head coach Panagiotis Dilperis highlighted the challenge ahead: «Bengaluru is playing differently this season with a new Indian coach. They can adapt between attacking and defensive styles. But we have to focus on our own pace and playing style. We are building a clear identity and a specific playing style. With patience and hard work, we will become stronger with every match.»

Punjab FC captain Dani Ramírez said: «This is a short competition and we cannot afford too many mistakes. But that also makes it exciting. Lihat juga fdsf6. If we have a strong run of wins, we can quickly move to the top of the table. We are calm, confident and united as a group, and we absolutely believe we can fight to become champions.»

Bengaluru FC will look to assert themselves on their home pitch by maintaining pressure and showing more ruthlessness in front of goal, while the Shers will look to remain compact and execute their game plan with discipline.
