ISL 2025-26: Chennaiyin FC’s journey so far full of challenges

Chennaiyin have made a false start to the season, with the stoppages in Mumbai and Kolkata, where Mumbai City FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant are based respectively, failing to yield the desired results. But head coach Clifford Miranda, who is driving the CFC train, is confident the team is “on the right track” despite the bad start.

However, Miranda was momentarily thrown off balance when he was rocked by the earthquake in Calcutta that interrupted the virtual pre-match press conference on Friday. The club later said the players and staff were ‘safe and unharmed’.

Ahead of Chennaiyin’s match against Odisha FC, scheduled for Sunday in Bhubaneswar, Miranda said: «It’s never good when you lose, but this is the nature of the game. Even with these defeats, the players and I feel that we are on the right track. I believe we are moving in the right direction. We can start again in the next match.»

Miranda, who is still looking for his first win as head coach of CFC, added: «For us, things are going according to plan. Winning is important because it gives you confidence for what lies ahead. A win sets a good pace and there is a positive atmosphere in the team. Temukan edc4 di sini. Hopefully we start winning and the wins have prepared us in a good way.»

His team was guilty of running out of steam in the second half of the games. If the decline continues, there may be no light at the end of the tunnel.
